The Awesome Opossum

Evan's Kindergarten teacher rewards the children who are quiet during naptime with the Awesome Oppossum. Evan waited patiently for a long time. Finally, one Monday she could not wait to tell me that she got to bring it home! The next day you get to take a nap with the baby and mommy opossum. As luck would have it, the day she brought it home, she got sick. So, she got to keep it a little longer than usual.

Dragonboat Festival

A few weeks ago Evan & I went to the Dragonboat Races. This is a Chinese tradition that is slowly catching on in the US. In our area, various companies and organizations formed teams to race. I think this would be so much fun to race as a family! We had a great time watching the races, listening to the live music and playing around in Riverview Park.

Cute Puppies

Aren't these puppies sweet? They are a mix of Pappillon and something else. When Keri, Tara (Jamie's niece), and I were supposed to be getting Madison's birthday cake, we were playing with these puppies. Each os us was trying to get the other to buy one. I was so tempted!

Happy Birthday, Mike!

After celebrating Mike's 43rd birthday, we came home to enjoy a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake. Evan was so excited I found an LSU cake.

Ice Cream Divas

Julie & I took the girls to Baskin-Robbins the other night for a treat. They had been playing dress-up and decided they wanted to wear their shoes. So, of course we let them! Too cute!

A Full Day

As we were decorating and getting everything ready for the party, Evan and Chandler swam, and swam, and swam. Evan got up quite early and played all day with so much energy that by 7 pm, sh had crashed on the couch with Daisy by her side. We had a great time!

Madison's Sweet 16

Evan & I went to Houston this weekend for Madison's 16th birthday. We got pulled over in Nacogdoches for speeding. The sergeant was very nice and let us go without a ticket probably partially because he heard Evan ask me very innocently if I was going to get a ticket. I told her I didn't know, he gave kind of a smile, and told us to be careful.
When we got to Houston, Evan was all about playing with Chandler and Daisy. She carries that poor dog everywhere, but Daisy doesn't seem to mind.
Madison had no idea she was getting a car. Keri & Jamie hid the key in a pinata they had her beat open. With a little coaxing from Keri as to where she should look, she took off to see it. It was so fun to see the surprise in her face!
