Happy Halloween!

Argh, Matey! Look at my sweet little pirate. We started practicing her makeup Thursday night but got interrupted by a tornado. It didn't get us this time, but Evan & I spent some time seeking shelter in her bathtub. Anyway, we had fun playing with makeup. I lined her eyes about a quarter inch thick, but it all but disappears when she opens her eyes. I love her tattoo, but her costume covered so much of her body it was hard to find a good place for it. We had to take her flask to the ward Trunk or Treat just in case it got boring - you know, a little alcohol livens up any group (just kidding)! She wanted to be Bat Woman this year, but I am so glad I talked her into being a pirate because I love this look on her.

Honors Assembly

After every report card each grade has an honor assembly. Evan got an award for knowing all of her sight words.

Star Student

Each week a student is chosen to be the 'Star Student'. This student gets to be the line leader, errand runner, snack 'hander-outer', etc. Evan has been waiting patiently for her turn, and it finally came. Last week she got the honor of being the star student. It was so cute how excited she was. Mike got a huge alligator pillow that is longer than she is tall to reward her for being good. She sleeps with it every night.

The Boardwalk

Evan is pretending she's a mermaid - see her tail?

I'd been busy all day yesterday with different things, so when we finally got home and sent Mike to work, I realized that I should really start cleaning. I really didn't want to do that, so Evan, Kassidy & I escaped to the Boardwalk for a little shopping and Coldstone. Every time we go Evan loves to ride the trolley and the Merry-Go-Round and get ice cream. I also found some good sales.

Mike's First Bagpipe Competition

Mike had been playing the bagpipes for about 7 years now and has never been able to compete for one reason or another. For the last 3 or 4 months, he has been working so hard to help his teacher put together a local competition. He competed yesterday and did very well - he was awarded a bronze medal! Great job!

Look How Cute!

One of the mom's made this poster for Rodeo Day. I hope you can see the picture well enough to see the children are all trying to look mean.

More Rodeo Day

Impromptu Hoedown with Dixie & Emily
I just love seeing Evan smile and laugh! I am so glad she is such a happy and loving child.

It's Finally Rodeo Day!

Stompin' on a Snake
Evan has been waiting for this day for a month. We've had fun getting her pink boots, cowgirl hat, belt complete with belt buckle, cowgirl shirt and bandana. Each year the Kindergartners get to spend half a day going from one station to the next in their cowboy gear. I was very surprised that almost every child had boots - cute ones at that! Although it was 51 degrees and extremely windy, everyone had a blast.

P90X Yoga with Kassi

Evan had a sleepover at Kassi's, and they decided to do yoga. Too cute!

Pumkpin Patch

We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch so we could pick a few. Evan always loves to pick a little pumpkin. I think she was pretending it was an ice cream cone.

Our Annual Visit to the Corn Maze

Kassidy, Evan & Trista - BFFs

Evan always loves to go to the Corn Maze. They have quite a bit to do - from jumping to playing in a ton of corn kernels to several mazes. We've had probably 19 inches of rain over the last week and a half, so needless to say it was very muddy. We decided to try out the kiddie maze - I hate these mazes because I'm always afraid I won't find my way out. Not far into the maze everything turned to mud. Evan's rain boots are a size or two too big and would come off if she ran, so I knew this would be interesting. It wasn't long before the mud sucked her boot and she walked out of it, lost her balance, and fell in the mud. I was laughing so hard I couldn't help her - another mother had to help her up!

A Worn Out Evan

I absolutely hate to go to Wal-Mart, but sometimes you just have to break down and go. Since Evan was out of school on Friday, I had her with me running errands. She'd had a sleepover at her BFFs the night before and went to bed late. I guess she was pretty exhausted by 1pm because she completely crashed on me. A checker took pity on me and grabbed me out of a long line so she could check me out in her 20 items or less line. I had way more than 20 items. She was very nice!
