Travel Approval

We will soon be taking off for China!! We should have received our travel approval from China a week and a half ago, so we were beginning to get very anxious. We finally received the call today that it came. Our tentative date of departure is June 16th. We'll know more next week after we get our consulate appointment. Ready or not, here we come!!

Chillin' With the Girls

Evan played with her friends in their pool yesterday for a while. When her BFF Kassidy suggested they lay out and get a tan, Evan said "White people can't get tan - not like Chinese people. Chinese get tan as dirt." LOL That girl is too used to seeing my pale, white skin!

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

What a great day! I did so many of the things I enjoy. I now have a breakfast buffet buddy. I absolutely LOVE a breakfast buffet, but we never go because, well, we all love our sleep more. Evan and I woke up early Saturday morning and decided to stop for breakfast before heading to the Boardwalk for Girl Scouts. Evan thought it was the coolest place ever! She got to have as much bacon as she wanted! We did make a great bowl of grits.
Then we met the Girl Scouts at Build A Bear. I know this place is for children, but I love it when Evan wants to go. Evan decided she would make a bear for Sydney. She first chose one of the more expensive ones, but then I reminded her that Girl Scouts was paying for $25. If she got a less expensive bear, she'd have more money to spend on clothes. She did just that.
We had a great time at the BABW party and then stopped in at Gymboree. I saw the cutest dress there last week and have been thinking about it since then. So, Evan and Sydney now have matching dresses and necklaces.
We came home to start spring cleaning and do a little baking. I've accomlished so much today that I wish I had several more days just like it.

Chloe's New Friend

We took Chloe to Brownies Park with us, and she found a friend. The Maltese was about her age and had as much energy. They played for about 45 minutes straight without a break. The Maltese finally grabbed Chloe's tail and pulled her around for a while. Chloe slept very soundly that night. I now understand why it would be easier to have 2 dogs. Let's hope the same concept is true for 2 children.

Picnic at Brownlee Park

Tuesday night we went to Brownies Park (that's what Evan calls Brownlee Park) for a picnic and some fmaily time. After we ate, Evan played in the fountains and had a great time eventhough the water was cold.

End of the Year Gymnastics Award

Evan was given the 'Best Sport' award for always making everyone laugh. It's a good thing she's pretty good because her mouth always seems to be moving. She graduated from level 1 and will start on the Developmental Team this summer. She'll go 2 days a week for 1 1/2 hours each time. I'm really looking forward to her getting more real instructional time instead of some playtime.

Management 510 Completed!

Mike and I have been trying all weekend to record my video presentation and email it to my professor. Finally, all the stars aligned and we got it done. I took my final last Wednesday, submitted my presentation and powerpoint today and sent in my paper this afternoon. I am officially finished with this class. I can now concentrate on getting things ready to go to China. I also am going to try to do some Spring cleaning before we leave. I’ve only been doing the mandatory things the last few months because of my time-consuming class. This post is actually a test to see if I can figure out how to post via emails while we are in China. It looks like it works! Scratch that off my list!!!

Spa Party

Kassidy (Evan's BFF) invited her over so she would have a friend at her older sister's spa birthday party. I went to help out. These little girls had a blast. They enjoyed dipping fruit in the chocolate fountain, but I think the preferred to drink from it with a straw. They also loved the Cool Whip facials! You haven't heard of these? Well, they are very tasty. They also make bath salts, did a sugar acrub, painted their nails and soaked their feet. We had a fun night!

And More Water

Can you see Evan? You can see her face on the right side of the bottom picture. She loved the extra strength fire hose!

Water Guns

Aren't these cool water guns? They were so easy to use! I don't know why they insisted on standing inside the pool. I guess maybe it wasn't as muddy.

More Beach Day

Beach Day 2010

Evan had Beach Day on Friday. I am so glad it was overcast because it was quite warm and sultry. Our class trucked in sand so the children could play on the 'beach'. There was a beach ball relay station, water guns, jumpies, a waterslide, popsicles, and sidewalk chalk. At the end, we had the fire department come and spray the children. I think everyone had a great time!

The Newest First-Grader

Mrs. Booker - #1 Kindergarten Teacher

After graduation we took Evan and her grandparents to lunch so we could spend a little more time together. We missed Big Girl because she had to work. When I told evan she was not going to be able to make it, she got very sad and said she really loved her and that she was very important to her.

Kindergarten Graduation

Evan graduated from Kindergarten today! The teachers helped the children put on an awesome program! They sang songs set to the music of a few 'Grease' songs. Some parents get emotional during graduation, but I was as excited as Evan. I did get a little choked up, but I love that she is getting more and more independent. I am very proud of her for doing such a great job! It was nice to hear the full version of some of the songs she's been singing around the house.
