My Birthday Weekend

Mike & I started celebrating my birthday as soon as we dropped Evan off at her slumber party Thursday night. My present (portable speakers for my Iphone) had c0me in the mail, so we played around with it. I cannot wait to listen to Pandora on them. The sound is awesome! We went to a movie and then made a run for the border. I was telling Mike how much a late night visit to Taco Bell reminded me of college. He asked me if 10 pm could really be considered late night. Hmmm - I guess I'm showing my age! Friday morning we crashed Sarah-Anne's party at the park and then went to lunch at my favorite restaurant - Yeero Yeero! I love Greek food. Since I'd taken most of the day off, I actually got to take a nap! As Mike left for work, Evan & I headed to the pool for the evening. She was disappointed that none of her friends were able to go, but we had a great time together. Evan & I spent Saturday with MiMi, PaPa and Big Girl. While we were there, we took pictures of Evan in my wedding dress and train. Her beautifully tanned skin looks so pretty next to the white satin. It was a great birthday!

Slumber Party

Evan had her first slumber party last night to cdelebrate Sarah-Anne's birthday. I slept with the phone beside me just waiting to go pick her up because she didn't want to stay. We are so proud of her because she stayed there all night! Apparently she woke up a little confused. As soon as she realized she had spent the whole night away from us, she was very proud of herself. She said "Now I can spend the night with my grandparents!" We met the party at Brownlee Park and joined in for cake. Evan had such a great time!

Our New Living Room

I posted a week or so ago about painting our living room and redecorating. This post is for my good friends Patrice and Cindy who asked to see pics. I have to make another few trips to my favorite store to find some pieces for the walls.

Water Balloon Fight!

Each child got 5 water balloons to throw. Evan had to get all 5 at once so she would be sure to get all of them. It was funny to watch her manuever while carrying them all. Finally, the end of the year couldn't be recorded without a picture of precious Chase and 'his girls'.

More Water Day Pictures

Evan loves roly polies - she loves most bugs, in fact. She found a roly poly and had to show everyone. I had to babysit it while she played. Luckily, her memory is fairly short - with some things. After playing in the water for a while, they decided to play in a huge mud puddle created by their fun. I didn't get a picture of her actually in the puddle, but her face and bathing suit prove that she was there!

Last Day of Preschool

Today was WATER DAY at school since it was the last day. Ms. Lisa brought a Slip n Slide, body paint, colored foam soap, water balls and water balloons. They loved it all! I have lost count of how many bathing suits Evan has (I found a ton on clearance at the end of last summer and then found some cute new ones this spring), but her favorite one is this one. I think it is very cute, but it sure does mess up her tan line.

2022 Benton High School Graduate

Thursday was Evan's preschool graduation. She is so excited to be that much closer to starting Kindergarten. As each child walked up to get their diploma, the director told what each wants to be when they grow up. Evan wants to be a cowgirl and a cheerleader. Does that mean we have a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader on our hands? Since this was the first time I'd heard anything about cheering, I had to ask her about it. She said Cade (one of her many friends in our neighborhood) was going to play football, and she wanted to cheer for him. She made a cute preschool graduate regardless of what she wants to be 20 years from now.

At the end of the ceremony, her class was presented as the Benton High School graduating class of 2022. 2022???!!!???! I hastily figured in my head that Mike would be 61 years old when she graduates from high school (and did not bother to refigure for a few days). I 'freaked out' a while wondering what business we had pursuing a second adoption if we were going to be that old! I finally refigured and was thrilled to find that I need to take a math class. Mike will only be 55 when she graduates! Maybe we will get to retire one day afterall!

More Basketball

Evan does not like for me to say she is playing basketball...it is KinderTot. Here are some shots I took before her performance. I just love that she can be such a tomboy but also enjoy dressing up. She loves playing with cars as much as Barbies.

Shine Time

Today was Evan's time to shine with Kinder TOT - a basketball skills class. She participates in a Kinder TOT class once a week, and today was their 'recital'. She did very well and was so entertaining. She especially loved posing with her trophy and showing off her muscles.

Gymnastics Achievement Ceremony

A few months ago Evan moved to the next older gymnastics class and has been doing very well. She is so close to doing a back flip, she just doesn't realize it. Miss Britney is really good with her and says she has a lot of potential. This class has a small achievement ceremony from time to time. Evan was so excited to get her ribbon.

Happy Mother's Day!

It has been a great weekend! Mike, Evan & I completely redid our living room. We bought new furniture, repainted with a slate blue and a chocolate brown accent wall and are now ready to put up our new decorations. Evan helped out a lot by painting with her own little roller. This was all part of my Mother's Day present. We took a break so she could make me a pink cake with pink frosting and sprinkles. She did a great job! Now usually she will eat either the frosting or the cake, but not both. This time she ate both and kept saying how she just couldn't get enough of the cake.
Sunday morning I found her wrapping my present - one of her stuffed animals. She told me that she liked this puppy except when his ears flopped down - that's why she was giving it to me. I'm supposed to snuggle with it. We had a great afternoon with family.
